Sara Palmieri is an italian photographer and visual artist born in Rome.
Her background as an architect takes her to experiment and mix different languages. Through her practices she looks for a connection with the world in a spiritual and metaphysical way, with many and different dimensions. Her work explores personal and philosophical issues, focusing on memory, time and space concepts as living material to work.
She received her Master’s Degree in Architecture from La Sapienza, Rome in 2005 and she worked for years as a set and interior designer. Since 2009 she attended several masterclasses and workshops with Leonie Hampton, Vanessa Winship, 3/3, Anders Petersen, Lina Pallotta among others. In 2015 she was selected for the first ISSP International Masterclass one-year long program with Aaron Schuman. Recidencies in Kuldiga, Latvia in 2015 and 2016 and in Braga, Portugal in 2015.
In 2016 her selfpublished book La plume plongea la tête was awarded the Marco Bastianelli Prize for Best Italian Self-published book, and shortlisted for Self Publish Riga 2016, Gazebook-Sicily Photobook Festival 2016, Encontros da Imagem PhotoFestival 2015 and The Book's Space at Fotografia Festival Internazionale di Roma 2015.
